Our History

Phillips General Contracting Limited has always felt that the delivery of quality services coupled with high integrity in all business transactions were two (2) key elements that must never be ignored. During their twenty (20) years of operation we had several high points but none was as profound as the following:

  • Determination and will in leading Phillips General Contracting Limited

1987

Founded in 1987 by Junior Phillips and three other directors Heather Phillips, Rhonda Superville and Betty Phillips

1988

In February the company obtained an “approved labour rate schedule” with Amoco Trinidad Oil Company to provided Instrumentation Maintenance Services on an “as and when” basis.

In May the organization was given its first job with Amoco Maintenance Department to perform repairs and services to Instruments on Teak Echo Water flood offshore facility.

Our staff continued to grow with most of our staff coming from the company’s base, the community of Mayaro / Gyauaguayare area.

1990

The organization was given added responsibilities with Amoco Trinidad Oil Company. Our company provided support to the Automation and Measurement department where we installed, commissioned and maintained all Automation (SCADA) and Measurement equipment onshore and offshore, performed Custody Transfer Calibrations of Meters, Calibrations of Lact Unit Instruments refurbished Recorders Transmitters and Controllers etc.

1992

Awarded a two (2) years contract with TRINTOMAR where we provided Operations support on the Pelican platform.

1998

To maintain our human resource pool a relationship started with Metal Industry Company (MIC) training institution whereby two (2) students in the Journey-man programmed were placed in our organization for 2 ½ years and worked alongside our full time employees to gain “hands on” experience, this process is ongoing.

1999

Implementation of our HSE policy which is ongoing

Provided technical support for the Amoco Trinidad Oil Company Terminal Maintenance Department. The company was instrumental in the “cutover process” from manual control to the remote control through the Honeywell SCAN 3000 system. Provided technicians and maintained the Stabilizer plant – LNG Upstream Development Project.

2002

Provided hydrostatic testing services on valves, vessels and piping for bp-TTLLC, and other contracting firms within the Galeota Base Operations, this service is ongoing

Supplied materials and labour and installed new Custody Transfer Jiskoot Sampler System for the bp-TTLLC Terminal

Supplied equipment, materials, labour and performed pre-Water –Draw calibration checks and services on bp-TTLLC Lact Units at Process Area and Beachfield facilities.

Supplied equipment, materials, labour and performed pre-Water –Draw calibration checks and services on Lact Units at Trintomar Tank Farm facilities. – Kenson Group of Companies

2003

Supplied equipment and provide an Instructor to do Hands-on training with your Technicians on Barton Recorders calibration procedures. Kenson Group of Companies

Supplied parts and overhaul the Amloc Air Dryer on the Terminal Area. – bp-TT

Supplied equipment, labour and performed installation of Instruments and cabling for V409 Pigging Project – bpTTL

Supplied materials, equipment, labour and installed Automatic High Level Control System on the Diesel Storage Tank, jetty Area. – bpTTLLC

Custody Transfer calibrations for bp-TT and Repsol YPF T&T

Assessment from Bureau of Standard for seeking accreditation of the 17052 standard

2004

bp-TTLLC maintenance contract novated to Neal and Massy Wood Group, this service is ongoing.

Provide Operator Technicians for bp-TTLLC this is ongoing
